Brick Stitch St. Patrick's Day Pin Patterns
These 3 patterns are quick to stitch using either brick stitch or peyote. When I'm stitching pins I prefer brick stitch because it's a stiffer stitch. You can find complete instructions for brick stitch here Basic Beading- Brick Stitch Earrings.
Stitch the pattern, then either back it with Ultrasuede, leather or wool felt and sew a pin back to the backing or sew a pin back directly on the beadwork. I've done it both ways. Without a backing looks more informal and crafty, with a backing stitched carefully with a thread that matches the backing material makes a pin that's thicker with a more professional look.
All of the pins are hexagon shaped and 25 beads wide by 25 rows tall. So the foundation row in brick stitch is 25 beads, and you'll weave 12 rows up and 12 rows down from the foundation row, decreasing each row by 1 bead.
The graphs are designed to be stitched in size 11/o Delica cylinder beads but will work fine in size 15s for a smaller pin/brooch or earrings.

The first one is a simple 2 color shamrock design. Pick your favorite colors, gold shamrock and borders on a green background using Delica Bright Gold would look very rich, black background with light green beads is a nice look for office wear and as shown with dark green on white pearl ceylon is a nice casual look.
The second design is 3 colors, and more formal and dressy. This does look best with metallic accents in my opinion. Silver lined dark green for the knot color, silver for the outline and black for the background would look lovely. It also looks good in 2 shades of green with bright gold, or using green and a pretty blue with gold, silver or copper toned Delicas. It's only a few metallic beads so it won't be too dear.
Last up is just plain fun. Pinching people not wearing green is a school yard tradition. This simple 2 color design says "pinch proof" to dissuade pinches.
