Meeting with Salado Business
The Salado Golf Club at Mill Creek board members are working a full schedule at keeping the interest up in buying the Mill Creek Golf Club. The board prepared a six page prospectus of all the information we have been working on and it was sent to 1234 addresses. This was to inform everyone as to what has been done so far with plans for buying the golf course and to stop un-necessary rumors. It was all very concise and full of information on what is needed to complete this deal.
Terry Dill and our Treasure Bruce Bolick are continuing their availability at the Visitor Center of the Chamber of Commerce to answer any questions that people may have. They also are excepting checks from those making their pledge of $10,000 and new memberships to join this new golf club these checks are put in a safety Deposit Box. We need to collect these checks to have ready when we reach our goal to buy the course from the present owner.
The appointment cards I sent out for present members of the Mill Creek Golf Club who have not signed an agreement to join the new system. They were given a time they could meet Terry and Bruce and have their questions answered or just to hand in their checks. It has been fairly busy as some of the members have met their appointment or made a reserve time. I did have many who did not respond at all and I asked other board members to take the time to talk to them about joining. I also had two that would not make their appointment and did not want to reserve another time. I thanked them for responding and sorry they did not want to be part of the new golf course.
Terry made arrangements for the business people of Salado to meet at the Golf Course Pro Shop to explain why saving this golf course is important to the Village of Salado. In the past the golf course was a great place to spend the weekend or longer to play the scenic golf course and visit the shops and restaurants. Since the floods have closed the most scenic part of the course these visits have stopped and the business people are realizing this from a drop in customers. The following are a few who spoke out in their support of the member ownership of the golf course.
Tim Fleischer – Editor of Salado Village Voice
Dave Hermann - owner of The Range a Gourmet Restaurant in Salado
Larry Prellop - owner of Prellop Fine Arts and Framing in Salado
This was a very informative meeting and many of the business people were in attendance and asked questions. Terry also explained his vision for the future of this golf course and how to bring the people back to enjoy its scenic beauty again. We had a big crowd and they had their chance to get their questions answered also some stayed after the meeting for private conversations. The board will be planning future meetings as we need input from the people on who they want for the future board members once we own the golf course.
