Aoi Sekai no Chushin de is an anime series based on a manga series written by Anastasia Shestakova and illustrated by Crimson.

The series is set in a world where there are two forces fighting against each other for control of the land of Consume: the Ninteldo Empire and the Segua Kingdom. If you can't tell by the names, this series is a re-imagining of the gaming console wars. The Ninteldo Empire has had the upper hand in the battle, and at the start of the series, they control 90% of Consume.

In the first episode, a young man named Gear comes down from the mountains and insists on joining the Segua Kingdom's army. Gear has spent time in the mountains training, and ends up coming to the kingdom after his best friend, Til, is killed. Gear is able to defeat some of the best men in the main army through his speed, and he is put in charge of the Special Forces. Fighting alongside him are Opal (an archer who is also the second strongest in the Segua Special Forces) and a mercenary named Tejirof who was once the upperclassman of Ramses (the vice-general of the Segua Army). Tejirof is a pervert, and tends to make dirty jokes and a lot of references to sexual intercourse.

In the first episode, the basic premise of the story is laid out right from the start; however, there is much more focus placed on the Segua Kingdom than on the Ninteldo Empire (the Ninteldo Empire only appears in one scene in the episode, and it's only there to illustrate just how ruthless their general is). With that said, though, there just wasn't quite enough for me to become personally invested in the story and wanting to rush out to watch the next episode to find out where the story goes. I'm not saying that it's necessarily bad, it's just that I personally didn't become hooked by the end of the first episode.

When it comes to the content, there's definitely some hinted at nudity that appears in the visuals, as well as the occasional piece of "fanservice." I also found that some of the dialogue could be construed as having double entendre, with many of these lines having a sexual subtext to them. Considering some of the other elements that appear in the series, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this is intentional.

When I watched the first episode on Crunchyroll, I was told I had to log in to see it, due to potential adult content. Since Crunchyroll felt a need to take this action, I can only truly recommend Aoi Sekai no Chushin de to anime viewers who are 18 years of age and older.
