Scented Body Scrubs, Something Different!
I was experimenting with essential oils and scrub this week and two very interesting products surfaced.
The first one is the combination Neem oil and Turmeric. Now if you know anything about the cultures of the east, turmeric in your pantry is like salt and pepper in the west.
It’s used traditionally in curry dishes in India, Persia and Asia. That yellow coloring that you find in mustard is a contribution from turmeric.
Turmeric is native to South Asia and technically turmeric is from the ginger family. In ancient Indian medicine, Ayurveda, turmeric has been recommended for its medicinal value in foods.
When used is cosmetics, turmeric paste can keep your skin free of superfluous hair. When used in home remedies and Ayurveda, turmeric is said to improve your skin and is used as an anti-aging agent.
Now the beauty of using turmeric in a scrub is that it will aid your body in acquiring a beautiful glow to your skin. When combined with neem oil it steps up the prosperities of great skin care.
Neem oils are an antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal, antiseptic and anti-parasitic agent in skin care.
For those of you that would like to have a scent in your product, pink grapefruit is an excellent choice. You can make this you know! And if nothing else, you can create a bath salt:
1-cup sea salt
½ teaspoon of neem oil
½ teaspoon of jojoba oil
½ teaspoon of coconut oil
4-6 drops of grapefruit essential oil
¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder
The second concoction was a Coconut Sugar Scrub. The smell of coconut naturally brings pure essence to your senses. Combine it with sugar and you’ve got “sweetness”. It’s a hugs and kisses scrub.
Coconut oil is known to delay wrinkles and sagging skin. It also helps in treating psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. It’s been deemed safe enough to use in body care products such as soaps and creams. It has antioxidant properties and is said to prevent premature aging.
Oh my God, my skin's feeling softer and smoother already!
No need to add any essential oils to this mix because it has the natural essence of the coconut oil.
As with any scrubs tale caution in your bath tub/shower because the oils will create a slippery surface.
Smelling good and feeling good!
