Vanished in the Dunes Review
Fifty-five-year-old Amos Posner lost his job two years ago when the company he was working for ran afoul of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and he was offered up as a scape goat. Although he was given a generous severance package, he was unable to get another job.

His wife, Sara, a Manhattan lawyer, is moving up the ladder and just became a partner in a mid-size law firm. Due to the stress of the past two years, their marriage has been on the rocks. Posner has been spending most of his time at their beach home in the Hamptons while Sara has stayed at their apartment in New York.

One day a young woman came into Posner’s life and his world turned upside down. Heidi was a psychiatric resident at a hospital in New York, and took a liking to Amos. She asked him to show her around the Hamptons and talked him into letting her visit his private getaway.

When he discovered her body at his Hampton home, instead of calling the police Posner buries it instead. Not surprisingly, he quickly became a suspect in her murder.

Enter Detective Peter Wisdom from the East Hampton Police Department who is investigating her death. Another player in this intriguing mystery is Dr. Henry Stern, the dead woman’s boyfriend.

As the investigation continued, Posner’s life turned into a nightmare he thought would never end.

Vanished in the Dunes was written by Allan Retzky. The Hampton Mystery is his first published novel. He lives in the Hamptons and writes with a familiarity of place that brings his story to life.

The setting, intriguing story line, and fast pace makes Vanished in the Dunes a perfect summer read. Interaction between characters plays an important role in the atmosphere of this psychological suspense thriller and gives an edge to the tale.

There are so many twists and turns to this story, you will keep turning pages to find out what happens next. If you do nothing else while you read this book, do not miss the last couple of pages. This book does not let up on the suspense until the very last page!
