This article covers the list of Spanish numbers, from 30 to 59, their use and grammar explanations, a video to listen how they are pronounced, and, finally, some exercises, to practice what you have learn.
There is a previous article about Spanish numbers, covering numbers from 1 to 29. You can find it here: Spanish numbers. From 1 to 29
First of all, here is the table with the list of numbers in Spanish:
Notes:
Numbers 31, 41 and 51 have three different forms:
31: treinta y uno (masculine), treinta y una (feminine) and treinta y un (apocopated form)
41: cuarenta y uno (masculine), cuarenta y una (feminine) and cuarenta y un (apocopated form)
51: cincuenta y uno (masculine), cincuenta y una (feminine) and cincuenta y un (apocopated form)
Both, masculine and feminine forms for 31, 41 and 51 (above) are never followed by a noun (substantive). But their apocopated form is followed by a noun. Take a look at these examples:
Tengo el número treinta y uno. (as "uno" refers to "número", and "número" is masculine.)
Estoy en la fila treinta y una. (as "una" refers to "fila", a feminine noun.)
Tengo cuarenta y un años. (as the noun "años" is placed after "cuarenta y un".). Note I can express this same idea, without the word "años" and, therefore, I'll say "cuarenta y uno" instead of "cuarenta y un": Tengo cuarenta y uno.
I have created a video, so that you can listen to the pronunciation of these numbers and associate the Spanish pronunciations with their spelling. Watch the video..
