Pokemon Indigo League Box 3
During the episodes in this set, Ash works at earning the final two badges he needs to enter the Pokemon League, Ash's various adventures after he returns home to Pallet Town that sidetrack him from training for the Pokemon League, and Ash's progress as he finally participates in the Pokemon League. There are technically two episodes that are out of chronological order in this set, but this is due to how the series was originally dubbed and aired in the United States; the episodes included on these sets are included in the order that they originally aired.
I did find a couple of glaring errors on this set. The first one is the title for episode number 69. On the packaging, as well as on the "Episodes" menu, it says the title is, "Hollywood Heartbreak." However, when you watch the episode, the title card and narration say the title is actually, "Go West Young Meowth." For episode 61, both the packaging and the episode title card say the episode is titled, "It's Mr. Mime Time"; however, a typo was made on the "Episodes" menu, and it says the title is, "It's Mr. Mimie Time."
When you put one of the discs into your DVD player, it goes to the Viz Media logo after the FBI Warning, and then goes directly to the main menu. The main menu only has two options: "Play" and "Episodes." The "Play" feature allows you to play all of the episodes back-to-back, while the "Episodes" feature allows you to choose where to begin watching on the disc. However, if you finish an episode using the "Episode" feature, the disc will automatically take you to the next episode on the disc.
Unlike the previous two box sets, the "Pokerap" is not hidden after the ending credits on the final episode of each disc. I have to assume that this is due to the fact that all of the episodes in this set contain "Pikachu's Jukebox," which is a "music video" that aired as part of the episode right before the ending credits.
Just like the other two sets, it's obvious that Viz Media put this set together "on the cheap." However, a fan of the Pokemon series who wants to own the episodes on DVD needs to own this set in order to finish the Indigo League portion of Pokemon.
On the one hand, I already knew from the previous two Indigo League sets that this would be a "bare bones" set. However, I wasn't expecting to find two very glaring errors as well. While I am a little disappointed in Viz Media for the obvious lack of effort on this particular set, I still have to recommend this set to Pokemon fans, since this is the best legal way to obtain these episodes from the Indigo League portion of the series.
I wrote this review after watching a copy of this DVD box set that my husband purchased for me as a gift.
