Smelling Sweet With Summer Scents
Its official Summer is here. Yes, this year and every other year, Summer will make its appearance and you will consider what scent blends you’ll wear and keep in your home environment for the season.
On the flower side you’ll have the sweet smells of Chamomile, Lavender, Geranium, Jasmine, Rose and Ylang Ylang to name a few. But what if you don’t like these scents and prefer something zestier, refreshing and uplifting?
How about trying Grapefruit, Lemon, Orange, Lime or Pine? Even Pine can be considered a scent that blends well with citrus. These oils are typically the ones chosen when you’d want an uplifting blend.
Lemon sharpens the mind and dispels confusion. Intense Summer heat can cause confusion and also cause you to have slowed thought process and response.
In order to keep your sweet smells all around you, try planting rose bushes or jasmine outside your door and enjoy their beautiful aromas as the summer breeze crosses your path.
In your kitchen fruit bowls oranges, lemons, grapefruits and limes are perfect for creating citrus blends in your kitchen.
Creating a Summer Scent for your Home and Personal Care
There’s nothing more personal than the linen you sleep on. How about making a
scent blend of clary sage and lavender to spray on your fresh linen for a restful nights sleep.
On your next visit to the beach, remember to bring back your collection of seashells. But this time add smoothed glass that you might find. Add 2-3 drops of vanilla, sandalwood, and lavender to a plastic bag. Then put your seashells and about a half cup of sea salt into the bag. Shake and prepare to add it to a bowl or dish container.
Honeysuckle! Although honeysuckle arrives a bit earlier in the spring, it can still be enjoyed in the early summer months. So here’s an opportunity to have it in a bath salt blend and immerse yourself in a tub filled with warm/hot water and breathe in its wonderful aroma while you soak.
While soaking in your tub can be a pleasant experience, so can moisturizing your body with a nice body butter or body oil.
In the warmth of the summer heat, when you get out of your bathtub or shower, it’s best to apply your body butter or body oil immediately to your skin. This will lock in the moisture and prevent your skin of being challenged with dryness.
These are simple things that can be done that will allow you to enjoy the sweet smells of Summer.
