I am often asked to recommend books that are suitable for children that have a quilting theme. I have been doing some research and have come up with the following books. Perhaps you’ll find one of these suitable for your little ones. I have found these books on Amazon.com and include a link to that site, for each book.

The Quilt Story written by Tony Johnston and illustrated by Tomie dePaola.
This book is a multi-generational story about a mother's loving embrace.



Oma's Quilt written by Paulette Bourgeois and illustrated by Stephane Jorisch
This book is a wonderful story about the love you share with your Grandmother.


The Name Quilt written by Phyllis Root and illustrated by Margot Apple.

This is a great book for reading aloud to children.



The Patchwork Quilt written by Valerie Flournoy and illustrated by Jerry Pinkney.
This book is all about time honored traditions, family values and love, but including a multicultural focus.



Sam Johnson and the Blue Ribbon Quilt written and illustrated by Lisa Campbell.
This is a fabulous story all about men and quilting.



The Quilt written and illustrated by Gary Paulsen.
This book is a wonderfully written, moving book about growing up.



The Kindness Quilt written and illustrated by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace.
This is a nice book to have in the kindergarten library, and touches of feelings.


The Patchwork Path: A Quilt Map to Freedom written by Bettye Stroud and illustrated by Erin Susanne Bennett.

Although fictional, this is a beautiful book for all children from around the world.
