Twin Bead Bracelet Instructions
Preciosa Twin Beads are like an elongated seed bead that's pierced on both ends. They are rice shaped, narrower at the ends then in the middle, and work well with seed beads because they are rounded. They are shaped something like this-
To make this project you will need:
- Twin Beads
- Size 8/o seed beads
- Size 11 seed beads
- Clasp
- Needle
- Thread
- Thread snips
These hexagons can be combined in other ways to make earrings.
Round 1- Thread your needle with a comfortable amount of thread to work with, and string on 1 size 11, 1 twin, 1 size 11, 1 twin, 1 size 11, 1 twin, 1 size 11, 1 twin,1 size 11, 1 twin, 1 size 11, 1 twin. Pull tight and tie in a circle.
Round 2- Pass the needle and thread up the side of one twin to the second hole, add 1 size 8, 1 Twin, 1 size 8, and pass the needle through the next Twin bead from the previous round. Repeat around.
After this, the rest of the motifs are worked from the outside in. Pass needle and thread around to come out of the opposite hole of one of the outside twins. Add 1 size 8, 1 Twin, 1 size 8, pass needle and thread through the next Twin from the first motif. Add 1 size 8, 1 twin 9 times, add one more size 8 and go through the Twin you started this motif on.
Pass needle and thread through the size 8 and Twin, then go up the edge of the Twin to the second hole. Add size 11 between every other twin on the second motif.
Pass the needle and thread around to the Twin opposite the start of the inner circle, and go up the edge of that Twin to the second hole, go through the size 8 bead, and the Twin, then up the side of that Twin to start the next motif.
Work the motif the same way as the second motif, and add motifs until your happy with the length. Remember the clasp will take an inch or so depending on size.
When you get to the end, pass the needle and thread to the bead on the end like you are starting another motif, then add 3 size 11s, 1 size 8, 3 size 11s, clasp, 3 size 11, back through the size 8, 3 size 11s, and through the next Twin.
Add 6 size 11 beads, go through the top Twin bead, 6 size 11s, then down through the top side connecting Twin bead, pass needle and thread through the other side of that Twin bead, repeat across the length, at the opposite end, add the other side of the clasp the same way you did the first side, then repeat the 6 bead loops on the other side. Knot off thread securely and weave in all ends.
