- Place the filet in a small bowl and prepare the ingredients for the marinade.
- Using a knife or the back of a spoon carefully peel the ginger. Then mince it and add it to the beef.
- Next, using the back of a large knife, carefully smash the garlic clove. This makes it easier to peel. Then peel it dice it into tiny pieces and add it to the beef.
- Then to the beef add the soy sauce, shao hsing wine, and lite brown sugar. Use your hand and rub the ingredients into the meat so that it is thoroughly coated.
- Then cover it with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for an hour.
- Once the beef marinates preheat the oven to 350F.
- Then prepare the sauce. In a large microwaveable cup or bowl mix together all of the ingredients for the sauce and then set this mixture aside. This sauce will be poured on top of the beef once it is cooked and sliced.
- Next heat an oven proof non stick pan or pot on high.
- Once it is hot add the beef directly from the marinade with no additional oil and let it cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until it is nice and browned.
- Then flip it over and let it cook another 2 to 3 minutes, or until it is browned on the other side.
- Once it has browned on both sides, place it in the preheated oven for 9 minutes. Keep in mind that this cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the steak and the type of oven. We want this to be about medium when it is finished.
- After it’s cooked place it on a plate and let it rest for about 5 minutes.
- While the meat rests, heat the sauce in the microwave on high for 30 seconds to a minute, or just until warm.
- Then slice the steak into thin slices and pour the sauce over top.
- Garnish with the slices of green onion and serve.
