Lucy Cousins’ little Maisy and friends return in Maisy’s Pirate Treasure Hunt. It is a pirate story for youngsters. There are twelve pages of clues to discover the treasure chest’s location.
Colorful Maisy and friends search for a buried treasure. Captain Maisy and maties search an island. In the oversized board book, they search high and low. There are forty flaps under which children can search with Maisy. All sorts of things are hidden under the flaps.
Maisy’s Pirate Treasure Hunt’s text is in rhyme. The pictures and text keep the crew searching the island for the booty. They must find three keys. Instructions tell them to look in the sand, in the mango trees and underneath the sea. After the treasure chest is found, Maisy and friends have a beach party cookout. On the last page, there is a wheel. Turn the wheel and see common items in the night sky: stars, bats and fireworks.
The colorful Maisy book works in the bedroom and in the school room. Children will love looking under the flaps. It makes them feel they are searching with Maisy. Kids enjoy having fun with Maisy. Maisy’s Pirate Treasure Hunt introduces children to pirate story terms.
As you read Maisy’s Pirate Treasure Hunt, emphasize the direction in which we read print. Point to the first word on a line and run your finger beneath the words as you read left to right and from top to bottom. Adults forget children need to be taught this.
