Darlene McCoy to Perform at Youth 4 Healthy Hearts
Gospel Recording Artist and Praise 102.5 personality Darlene McCoy has been tapped to headline the 3rd Annual Youth 4 Healthy Hearts Concert at Greenbriar Mall. The event will take place from 2-5 pm and will provide great entertainment, food and free health screenings for all.
Since 2008, after losing my only son Clinton to an undetected heart defect, I have been on a mission to raise community awareness about heart defects and create opportunities for young people to receive lifesaving heart screenings. Our family launched the Clinton Ron Walker Foundation and Youth 4 Healthy Hearts to support that endeavor. The organization was created to remember Clinton in a way that continues his legacy of service. The Youth 4 Healthy Hearts Benefit Concert is a yearly event that features Gospel performers and health vendors.
Having Darlene on board to support our efforts means so much to me and our organization. Her current song “I Shall Live and Not Die” fits our mission for these children do not have to die from their defects if detected early.
Eight out of every 1,000 children born in the US have congenital heart problems that often go undiagnosed. We are committed to bringing awareness to this problem and educating parents and the community on the steps to take to have their children screened. Come out and enjoy good music, food and fun on October 1, 2011 at Greenbriar Mall.
