There are thirteen different types of QR Codes. These types range from simple text messages to G.P.S. codes. This week we will look at six QR codes.

URL Based QR Codes
URL based QR codes are created to bring you to a website. You can link directly to a specific page on the website or the home page the choice is yours. Many companies are creating these types of QR codes for branding as well as marketing.
vCard QR Codes
vCards are QR codes which when scanned provide you with contact information. They hold information like business name, persons name, persons title, address, phone, email, website, mobile phone, work phone and country. Scanned information goes directly into your smartphones contact list.
Calendar Event QR Codes
Calendar event QR code will tell you the date of an event so it can be remember or entered directly into your phones calendar when scanned. You will find these types of QR codes on concert and event tickets, social invitations, or just any thing you attendance at. Information from a calendar event QR codes include the title of the event, event description, location, start date, end date, start time, and ending time. There are many applications for this type of QR code.
Email QR Codes
Email QR codes are straight forward. When scanned an email address is provided. The smartphone will compose an email for you to write details in the body. They are a good way to give someone a quick simple way to respond to an advertisement or request.
Phone QR Codes
Phone QR codes are similar to the Email QR Codes but when scanned a phone number is provided inside the smartphones dialer. All you need to do is hit ‘talk’ and the number will be dialed. These are great for instant action.
Plain Text QR
Plain text QR codes are fun and unique. You can create these QR codes with a message that will be displayed on any smartphone. Treasure hunts, secret information, contests with clues or the answer to a riddle are common uses. They are easily created and can have 160 characters of text.
