Sugar Free Chocolate Cake from Nancy's PiesIt was my birthday recently, and I really wanted a chocolate cake. My darling boyfriend found me a 7" chocolate cake - sugar free - from Nancy's Pies. It was great! The cake is made with maltitol and sorbitol as sugar substitutes, so you shouldn't eat the entire cake at once :) Sugar alcohols can make your tummy rumble! Not all people are sensitive to sugar alcohols - many can eat pounds of them with no problem at all. However, it's like peanuts. You figure out first if you ARE sensitive to them, and if you are, you take precautions. The cake was rich and creamy, with a smooth frosting and very cake-like texture and flavor. The cake cuts into 8 slices and each has 11g of carbs. Sure, that is pretty high as a "food item". But we're talking about CHOCOLATE CAKE here. If you were trying to eat a slice of a REAL chocolate cake with real sugared frosting and the rest, your carb count would be much, much higher. We find these cakes at the local Stop and Shop. If your store doesn't carry them, ask them to, or go visit NancysPies.com and take a look around. I don't recommend eating chocolate cake every day, but for special occasions, this is great! | Related Articles | Editor's Picks Articles | Top Ten Articles | Previous Features | Site Map
