I Just Want To Know
I just want to know...
Why do we do the things we do.
Why do we strike out with so much venom
And show no mercy or care.
Why do we do the things we do.
Why do we hurt the ones we love
And claim it is for their own good.
Why do we do the things we do.
Why do we cast judgment on others
And say it is in the name of God.
Why do we do the things we do.
Why do we say one thing
And in the next breath we do the opposite.
Why do we do the things we do.
Why do we expect change to come
And hang on to the past with vice-grips.
Why do we do the things we do.
Why do we say we love you
And then place conditions on that love.
Why do we do the things we do.
Why do we expect others to be a certain way
And of ourselves we don't do the same.
Why do we do the things we do.
Why do we want more from those around us
And we our selves do not want to give.
Why do we do the things we do
And tell those we preach to that
It is what God says.
God is not a liar.
God is not hate.
God is not blind.
God is not deaf.
God is not ignorant.
There will be a judgment day when God says it's time. So why can't we take His advice and learn to love instead of hate, judge and divide?
We don't always have to agree. We don't always have to like the things that others do. But we do have to love, respect and never compromise.
I can't be no one but me. I can't stop being who God called me to be to make someone else happy. I stand in my convictions and I stand in my truth. I stand in with my hands lifted and open to the divine will of God, and willingly go where He will lead me.
Not everyone will agree with me or what I believe. And the truth of the matter is, that is okay. I just ask in return, that you would reciprocate the respect given and the right to voice what I believe without calling me judgmental or a hater; but simply living who God called me to be.
Respect and mutuality goes a long way. You cannot want what you are not willing to give. and you cannot receive when your hands are closed and balled into fists.
I pray that God will bless you with understanding and a heart of compassion. And to truly know that unconditional love is just that: unconditional.
