Ex-boyfriend’s abortion billboard
Recently a disgruntled New Mexico man decided to advertise his disdain for what he calls an abortion his former girlfriend had without telling him. He paid $1300 for a billboard featuring a picture of him holding an outline of a baby with the words "This Would Have Been a Picture of My 2-Month Old Baby If the Mother Had Decided To Not KILL Our Child!" The billboard is erected over Alamogordo's main highway.
Ex girlfriend, Nani Lawrence denies the claim and is suing 35 year old Greg Fultz for domestic violence and charges of harassment and invasion of privacy. Friends of Nani Lawrence say she had a miscarriage.
Lawrence became pregnant during their 6-month relationship last year. After their break up the baby was lost and Fultz admits he is not even sure whether is was to miscarriage or abortion. He claims Lawrence wouldn’t tell him.
Fultz claims he raised donations to pay for the billboard originally endorsed by N.A.N.I., an organization Fultz created for pro-life issues, that stands for National Association for Needed Information. Maybe even more disturbing, the initials also spell out the ex girlfriends first name.
Otero County Domestic Violence Court hearing commissioner recommended a restraining order against Fultz and that the billboard is taken down by 8:14 a.m. on June 17th on the grounds of harassment. A judge is expected to approve the order.
Fultz is fighting it as far as necessary and he and his lawyer are arguing free speech.
I have to say I stand on the side of Nani Lawrence. The law clearly defines a woman's right to abortion as being hers and hers alone if she chooses. It is her body, her choice.
I don't agree that it falls under the protection of free speech. I feel it was done with malicious intent, and was for the sole purpose of at the very least, harassing his ex girlfriend.
Even he admits he doesn't know for a fact that she had an abortion and yet the word "kill" is used in the billboard.
Fultz sounds a little unstable to me at the least. I question his ability to parent a child in the first place.
