Biography of Mitsuki Nakamura
Mitsuki Nakamura was born in Tokyo in 1944. Beginning with his work on Space Ace in 1965, Nakamura was responsible for the background art, visuals, and mechanical designs for many of the classic anime produced by Tatsunoko Productions.
Nakamura's work for Tatsunoko also included Mach Go Go Go (aka Speed Racer), Oraa Guzura Dado, Kurenai Sanshiro, Hakushon Daimo, The Adventures of Hutch the Honeybee, Animentari Ketsudan, Kaba Totto, Kaiketsu Tamagon, Kagaku Ninja-Tai Gatchaman, Kerokko Demetan, Casshan, Konchu Monogatari Shin Minashigo Hutch, Hurricane Polymar, Uchuu no Kishi Tekkaman, Time Bokan, Paul no Miracle Daisakusen, Kagaku Ninja-Tai Gatchaman II, Kagaku Ninja-Tai Gatchaman F, Golden Warrior - The Gold Lightan, Kaito Lupin - 813 no Nazo, Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo, Yatterman, Judo Boy, Ugo King of Judo, Kyashan the Boy Android, and Kaitou Kiramekian.
Nakamura also did work for other studios, such as Toei, Sunrise, Studio DEEN, Mushi Productions, Group TAC, and Studio Pierrot. Other productions he worked on included the first Mobile Suit Gundam series and movie trilogy, Densetsu Kyojin Ideon, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Raiyaantsuuri no Uta, Pipi to Benai Hotaru, Aitsu to Lullaby: Suiyobi no Cinderella, Android Ana Maico 2010, Anime Sanjushi - Aramis no Boken, Area 88, Bats and Terry, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Cho Supercar Gattiger, Crusher Joe: The Movie, Crying Freeman, Daikengo, Dallos, Dirty Pair, Document Taiyou no Kiba Dougram, Fist of the North Star, Fresh Precure! Eventually, Nakamura led his own studio, which was called Design Office MECAMAN. He also co-published a book with Tomoaki Okada titled, Mecaman Art Works - Mitsuki Nakamura's World, which contains illustrations of backgrounds and robots from such anime as Mobile Suit Gundam and Gatchaman.
Sadly, Mitsuki Nakamura passed away on May 16, 2011 at the age of 67.
