May is Tournament Time
Our Ladies Golf Association has been in our golf season since first of February. Our weather was been unusually warm with little rain which is not a good thing for the golf course. Since the destructive flood last September we are still in recovery and managing an 18 hole course our of the 27 holes we had before. With new changes we are gaining new membership and with the weather settling down we are into May and our Member/Guest event is a few weeks away.
We are reverting back to last year’s routine with a practice round on Wednesday followed by a putting contest. This putting contest is designed by out Pro Matt with six holes laid out on our putting green. He was very clever in arranging some holes a par 3, others par 4 and one a par 5. He made us score cards where we recorded our total and prizes were given to the ones who did the best. He used twigs as trees, cord lines for out of bounds, rock and a blue cloth for water. If you hit any of these it was a penalty. This was great fun so looking forward to it again this year.
Following the practice round and putting contest there is a happy hour with snacks plus a party purse display. I have also been asked to take pictures of the teams that night and print out enough pictures so each person in the tournament will have her picture in a frame at the luncheon the next day. If we have a full tournament I will be busy printing out all these pictures that night to have them ready early the next day. Seems I have not learned the word NO well enough this year. I enjoy our President so could not turn her down.
The next day will be a breakfast with registration and goodie bags for each player. We tee off at 9:00 a.m. and after play go to our Stagecoach Restaurant for our luncheon. This is where Matt will award all the gift certificates to the winners and we will have drawing for our door prizes. We are hoping for a nice day weather wise, we have had so much wind this year but very little rain. We just hope it does not decide to do it those two days of the tournament.
I have invited a friend from a neighboring golf course Star Ranch and she is bringing two friends with her for our team in this tournament. We are playing a two best ball game from the team to find the winners of our tournament. Our Pro is handling all the score cards, goodie bag prizes, and will total up the scores. He will bring a poster to the luncheon where he will announce the winners and hand out the gift certificates to the Pro Shop. Good Time for All.
