Stranded With Her Ex
Hello, and welcome back! We’re getting an early taste of summer here, unfortunately. I was hoping for a nice spring week for my vacation, but it appears that isn’t what I’m getting. I’ll still have plenty of reading time, but it’ll be necessary to keep a cold drink handy while I’m reading.
This time out, I have a new release from Jill Sorensen, Stranded With Her Ex (Harlequin Romantic Suspense, purchased). Daniela Flores is headed to a wildlife preserve where she plans to lose herself in work, but on the research team is her ex-husband Sean Carmichael. A tragic loss tore them apart when they most needed one another, leading to the end of their marriage, but neither has ever forgotten the other, nor has the love and attraction they always shared died. Still, it seems that Sean might be involved with another woman, at least from Daniela’s perspective, and her heart is still badly wounded from the break-up of their marriage. Sean carries his own scars from the painful end of his marriage, but having Daniela so close by also makes it easier to remember all the wonderful times that came before. His mission to study sharks while on the island becomes secondary, however, when a member of their team is attacked, and protecting Daniela swiftly moves to the top of his priority list. This one has all kinds of great details, from the painful past this pair shares to the danger stalking them on the isolated island, and the steamy attraction that still flares between them every time they share space. I quite enjoyed it, all the emotional revelations about their break-up, and the sweet and sexy reunion of this pair. Sean is yummy, protective and sexy, and Daniela has to overcome a lot of hang-ups to get to her new happily ever after. I’m borrowing four of Cupid’s five arrows for this one.
