Do You Kayak? Kayak.com Review
When us internet users need to find something out, we Google it. It's become its own verb we use it so much. And while Google can be an invaluable resource to those of us who are on information overload and just looking for the ten best sites for meditation, let's say, it's not the best site in the world to use when you're looking for that cheap airline ticket or that wonderful getaway to rejuvenate your soul.
Enter Kayak.com. As Kayak.com says for itself, "With KAYAK, you can compare hundreds of travel sites at once (that's right, you don't have to search 20 travel sites anymore)." So, with all the gush of a girl who has found the perfect purse, here are all the reasons why I love Kayak.com for comparing travel deals.
1. I don't have to know exactly where I want to go.
When you get to Kayak.com, click on the Maps link at the top of the page. Before you lies the Kayak.com hotel map. 58,000 hotels in North America. 92,000 hotels in Europe. When you zoom in on an area, it pops up more map coordinates with more hotel links, zooming you in closer and closer to possibilities. Explore.
2. You can filter the map according to what you're looking for.
Once you've zoomed in on an area, you can click on the "filter" link at the top of the page to narrow your results by the price, star ratings, amenities, chain and type of property.
3. You don't have to know exactly when you're going.
From the Flights page, you can click on "my dates are flexible" and a chart will appear that shows all the prices for the dates surrounding the dates that you entered. You can adjust the dates from the home screen to get an idea of different times of year. It's brilliant.
4. Deals.
If you click on the Deals link, you can choose "Today's Top Deals" and get to what's a hot deal right now. Like today, for instance, there's a deal for a $600 Carnival Cruise vacation. If the timing is right and the price is right, it can be a great spontaneous way to book a new vacation destination!
5. You get the best deals from hundreds of travel sources all at once.
When you search for travel deals on Kayak.com, it searches everywhere - high and low. Kayak doesn't run a travel agency - they redirect you to the company that's offering the deal, so you still have to do your homework, but I think you'll find that no matter how hard you try, Kayak.com will find the deal first, and save you a ton of time in the long run.
