Artist Review - Mary Black
This best-selling Irish artist is very much recognized and admired in her home country of Ireland. Consistently surrounded by some of the cream of musician's from fair Éire, it's atmospheric 'n' moody stuff she particularly shines on for me. Good for a bit of easy listening AND for picking up song-writing tips, sophisticated chord progressions, and music study.
Musical styles and influences cover Jazz, Bluesy, Soul, Adult Contemporary, Country, Pop, Ballads, French Cafémusic ... it's a good mix with a familiar Irish lilt under-scoring the whole experience. Her albums usually provoke a "That's nice, who is it?" reaction from at least one (usually female) admirer in the room ;). For this result try playing the title track #1 on her album "No Frontiers" at just the right moment.
- A performer equally at home singing traditional Irish folk tunes and contemporary music.
- She was born into a musical family at the tender age of 0.
- That musical family consisting of good ol' Fiddle Players, Singers and Musicians.
If it's crazy you're after this ain't it hee-hee ... this is classy/melodic Irish/contemporary/easy listening/pop with a world lilt! - some category title that ;).
