4 Not So Obvious Things to do during your Job Search
Roberta Dulay of JobFiler.com has given me 4 important ideas that will
enhance yours and mine chances for success during our jobsearch .They are:
" 1. Follow up on any leads( say 3-4 weeks have passed and you want to re-contact employer to see the statis if your job application .)
2. Identify bogus job boards ( if , you applied 2 months ago and never heard
back , and see if the job was posted again .)
3. Track down the number of resumes sent and the responses .
4. Identify job boards that are effective for you ,not only in terms of
identifying job leads , but , also the response that you got from the lead ."

As everyone knows , today is SuperBowl Sunday , an unoffical American holiday.
Yes , this February 1st is often seem as a homage to American greed and
excess . It is not a day to be poor .

Even though my favorite football team , the New England Patriots , are in
the Super Bowl and are favored to win my joy is tinted by the deatn of the
father of a very close friend . In fact , he was just buried yesterday and
the sense of his loss to my friend and those who loved him is still strong .
The sermon at his Mass told of how when he was in the military that the government had given him an endless supply of cigarettes to help him get through
the tension of going to war without regard to what cigarettes would do to
the soldiers health .
In fact , Henry did die from smoking , a habit , once started , he couldn't break all his life .
During Henry's wake my brother Tom mentioned that all boots are now made
in China so if we ever got into a war with China (God forbid) , we would
have no boots ! Buried in the backpage of my local newspaper was the
headline ONLY 1,000 JOBS PRODUCED IN DECEMBER , and December was supposed
to be a GOOD month . My brother also told me that I won't ever be working in
my old facory again since it now completely torn down ...about 150 years
of wire production by American workers has now turned to dust !

In life we meet many people but most we don't give a second thought about
unless they exist within our little circle of family and friends . Events ,
like the Super Bowl often widen this circle , if , only for a moment .
Football is a team sport where the team that works the hardest to create
a team that joins together that strenghts and weaknesses of it's players
will win the title and all the glory that goes with it .
If , the Patriots win , I will still be unemployed but I do get to share in
their victory ( if only by proxy) .

Any thoughts of a booming economy were set aside for me last Friday when I went for a job interview to be a bookseller for a national bookstore chain
where about 500 people were interviewed for maybe 40 jobs . I will tell you
if I made that top 40 later . Until then , enjoy the game !
