Self Portrait in a Scrapbook

Guest Author - Lawanda Kress

Have you heard about the "Book of Me" albums people are doing? It is a wonderful idea! The whole idea is to create a special scrapbook about the one historical figure that is never/rarely in the photographs! YOU!!

You are important, too! You are usually the mom, or the wife, or the aunt, or just the person in general behind all the history you are writing, or art you are creating.

Even if you do have lots of photos of yourself, they are possily with others, or at events, which is ineveitably the theme of your pages. To create this special "book of YOU," you will need to switch gears and make pages all about you, your thoughts, your feelings, your perspective.

I have found this a difficult undertaking, personally. Making pages of myself is just not easy. I have managed to get a few pages done that have myself as the focus, but just in the pictures. I have only one page finished so far in which I focus the journaling and photo totally on myself. I am working on more, though!

Here is the one page in particular that has "me" as the focus totally on the page.

Here is the journaling:
I think everyone who knows me much at all, knows I love to scrapbook.
They may not realize how much I love to scrapbook, unless they know
that I go to Scrap Camp two weekends a year at Cedar Lakes
in Ripley (where this picture was taken by my mother-in-law, who is
often my partner in crime!) Or that I have a table set up in my livingroom, where
I do lots of pages. Or that I am a Leaving Prints Instructor, albeit a
very uncerimonious one. Or that I write a scrapbook column for an
online woman's magazine called BellaOnline.com. I just love this hobby!

Love To Scrap

Here is another page in my "Book of Me." You will notice from the title it is about a gift from Kevin! But still, the people around me make up "me" so I don't want to exclude them, just add more "me" into the recipe! After all, I wouldn't be "Lawanda Kress" if it weren't for "Kevin Kress" (my husband!)!!

Love From Kevin
