Carborite Chocolate Covered Peanuts

Carborite Chocolate Covered Peanuts
I was really thrilled to see Carborite come out with chocolate covered peanuts. I found them a bit to sweet for my taste, but other tasters thought they were just right.

The packs are about $1 for 1.2oz of peanuts (maybe 15-20). The front of the package boasts 0g of sugar carbs, and is sweetened with Splenda. The back of the package reveals it's 2.5 net effective carbs which seems to be a different message. They need to settle on one or the other rather than confusing consumers with different carb counts on different sides of the same package.

For me, the powdered sugar flavor was very sweet in the chocolate coating. With so many chocolate makers nailing the perfection in chocolate, I was sort of surprised that this was having trouble. We've had many, many high quality low carb chocolates that are virtually identical to Godiva and similar high end brands.

However, other people who tried these candies enjoyed that sugar-sweet flavor of the chocolate coating. So if you're into sweet milk chocolate, this might be perfect for you!

Note that Carborite also has candy coated chocolates which are in essence M&Ms without the Ms on them. These are only 1g net carbs per bag. Once again, I found them a bit on the sweet side, but enjoyable.

UPDATE: Carbolite/Carborite have now adopted the more PC / all-diet friendly company name of "Health Smart Foods".
