I have been entering sweepstakes for over twenty years now and I’ve experienced just about every emotion you can with this wonderful hobby. There are the up’s and the down’s, and the winning and the losing. The past two weeks I have taken some time off, traveled to the beautiful state of Tennessee and had a great time with my family.
I actually sat on a porch amidst the massive mountains, felt the cool air on my face and laughed as my granddaughter danced after bubbles being blown into the air. What I had was an old fashioned renewing.
There have been times of great sweep wins and times of draught. I needed to step back and once again capture the excitement that sweeps have always brought me. Can you believe I actually sat on a plane and didn’t fill out 3x5 cards? I traversed grocery store aisles and did not scan the counters for entry forms, or peek at the candy wrappers for advertised sweepstakes.
I refused to enter online contests, and instead spent time with my family, playing games and talking. I believe the actual term for what I did is called a vacation. Hmmmm. It’s been so long since I have allowed myself to just relax and ponder all of the wonderful wins I have gotten over the years.
So my message to you is, if your hobby has become tedious and mundane, step away from the computer, grab a good book to read or watch some old movies and chill out.
Needless to say, when I got home and read all of the wins my friends had received, I was uplifted and encouraged to just keep going. Of course it helped a whole bunch, when I was notified that I had won a 19” LCD television. As I drove home, after picking up my television, I once again marveled at the excitement this wonderful hobby can bring. There’s not many things you can do where you punch in a few numbers on your cell phone and instantly get a text message back, “Congratulations you are a winner,” and three weeks later have a brand new television, sitting in the back of your car.
So, vacation time is over for me. I’ve gotten re-centered and refocused. It’s funny how a win has the power to re-energize you so much. My advice this week is to keep on going, and if you begin to feel a little stressed out…take a break, count your blessings and come back full steam. Remember, you are just one entry away from winning!
