Philips Deluxe Deep Fryer
Deep frying in trans fatty acids can be incredibly unhealthy for you - but if you deep fry in healthy oils, you end up with a delicious, nutritious meal!

We looked at quite a number of deep fryers before settling on Philips. One of the KEY benefits of this fryer is that you can completely remove the inner container to clean it. Having owned fryers in the past where the container was part of the unit, this is a HUGE help! If you heat an oil up too hot or reuse it too much, you turn the oil into trans fatty acids, which are VERY bad for you. So you want to make sure you clean your unit well between uses.
I've seen on the web where some people have long cooking times using this unit. We have always had our food cook quickly and quite evenly. I really have to stress here that the TYPE OF OIL you use in any deep fryer makes a huge difference. Oils all have different abilities to retain heats. Some oils will fluctuate in temperature wildly while others hold a temperature well.
Also, heating an oil past its proper temperature will turn the oils into trans fatty acids - and will destroy the nutrients in the oil. So using a poorly chosen oil not only causes long cooking times and incomplete cooking but also creates health risks.
All of that being said, when we match our oil to the cooking temperature and cooking item in question, we've always had perfect results with the Philips fryer. We easily cook big batches of chicken wings in a variety of flavors, or other fried items. The items always cook in just the right amount of time that they state and are delicious. And unlike the trans-fat-laden french fries of McDonalds which are about as unhealthy as you can get, these fried items are in healthy oils, with healthy meats or vegetables at their core, and are really good for you!
I highly, highly recommend the Philips as being a great unit that is quite clean, quite safe to use, and very easy to clean up afterwards. And I really recommend to those having trouble with this unit (or any other deep fryer) to look CAREFULLY at webpages that talk about cooking with oils. It is amazing what a difference it can make to use an oil best suited to what you are doing.
