While a little bored Saturday, I was thumbing through the channel guide and stumbled upon Operation Homecoming. The story listed was about a five-year-old boy in Iraq and the soldier touched by this boy’s plight. After finding out the Rebaz’ older brother had died of the same heart problems our American soldier and his parents decide to find help for the boy. They arrange for him and his father to come to Iowa and have heart surgery. Rebaz’ loved life in America and after surgery, recuperation, and being reunited with his American soldier hero Rebaz’ and his father returned back to Iraq.
The second story was about a young family, with three young children whose father was returning from duty in Iraq. The soldier surprises his wife one day early and then they carry off the big surprise with the three young children. The parents of the soldier, the wife’s parents and the three children are watching a video from their soldier. He explains to the children that he has a surprise for them. The soldier has climbed inside a large gift box and the three small children get to open the box and “surprise” daddy is inside! The next day the soldier and his wife visit a fourth grade class, which had been his pen-pals. He too surprises them and thanks them for all their letters.
These are great stories to watch, be prepared to share tears of joy with the soldiers, their families and the lives they touch; as I am sure, they will touch your heart.
