War of the Rings Demo Download

The game will let you play the sides of good OR evil, but in the demo you get to choose from 2 sample missions. In mission #1, you play Legolas, pursing the escaping Gollum. Along the way you find a batch of rangers who were captured by spiders, and release them. Together you tramp your way through mossy forests and spider-infested fields.

The second mission involves Gimli and the dwarves. There's a siege going on, and you must kill off the orcs and build up your own encampment.

Those who are huge Legolas the Blonde fans will be disappointed to see that this game isn't based on the movie. So Legolas doesn't look like Orlando Bloom - he's rather more mature looking.

The graphics seem quite reasonable, along the lines of WarCraft III and the unit selection and movement all works almost exactly the same. It's a game where you don't have to read any manual or files to get going - just start pointing and clicking, and it's the same as any other strategy game you've played.

The beta version was quite enjoyable to play, and I look forward to seeing the full release!
