Robert Palmer, the musician famous for his Simply Irresistable and Addicted to Love videos, has died in Paris from a heart attack. He was 54 years old.
Palmer was born in 1949 in Yorkshire, England, and spent his childhood growing up on Malta. He began singing in England at age 19 and quickly went solo, gaining popular attention for his R&B style.
It was his trio of slinky-women videos that got him the most notice, and MTV soon had some of the most requested videos of all time on their hands.
Palmer also sang with The Power Station in the mid 80s, but most of his musical career was a solo act.
Palmer's latest CD, Drive, was released in May 2003. This was a self-produced CD where Palmer says he finally got to do exactly what he wanted. The CD is full of classic blues tunes, and the CD has been a critical success with fans and critics alike. A fitting final tribute to a talented musician, returning to his roots.
