USDA Proposes New Food Pyramid
Realizing that their current food pyramid has led to 2/3rds of all US residents being overweight, the USDA is looking into creating a new, more healthy food pyramid.
The new pyramid will be more vocal about recommending whole grain products rather than white bread, and will address the dangers of trans fatty acids in foods. It will encourage regular exercise as a part of a healthy lifestyle.
The new pyramid is still being designed and will take input from nutritionists before being finalized in February, 2005.
