Trista and Ryan Sutter welcomed their much anticipated baby boy, Maxwell “Max” Alston Sutter in the world on July 26, 2007 at 8:50 in the evening. The birth of the Sutter’s son was not free of complications - Trista had gestational diabetes in the last trimester of her pregnancy and experienced discomfore, therefore requiring a C-section 4 weeks before her due date. Little Max Sutter was 5 pounds 2 ounces and 18 inches long, and although Trista was able to leave the hospital on July 29, Max remained in the hospital for 10 days. The couple have opened up to the media about their journey to getting pregnant, saying it took 2 years to conceive.
Fans have followed Trista Rehn from her appearance on the first season of The Bachelor with Alex Michel, when she was runner up to Amanda Marsh. From that finale came The Bachelorette where Trista had the chance to find love on her own. Through all seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Trista and Ryan, who she chose in her final rose ceremony February 9, 2003, have been the only successful couple who have gone through with marriage and now starting a family. The Bachelor is currently in it’s 11th season, while The Bachelorette ran for 3 seasons, with Trista starring in the first. Trista and Ryan married in a televised ceremony in December of 2003, which at the time was one of the most watched reality programs in the history of the genre. Ryan also participated in the NBC reality show Fear Factor on the Reality Stars 4-episode run. With Trista by his side, Ryan was able to win the competition, along with $70, 000 and a trip to the Dominican Republic. Fans may also remember Trista from the first season of the ABC hit, Dancing with the Stars, where she was the first celebrity dancer eliminated. Throughout the ups and downs of media hype, the Sutter's have managed to create a "normal" family life and survive in a marriage that is uncommon for Hollywood, especially reality television couples.
The pair currently resides in Eagle County, Colorado where Ryan is still a Vail firefighter, while Trista has moved from her pre-tv career as a pediatric physical therapist to a woman’s handbag designer. Along with her purse designs, Trista Baby, a line that Trista has produced in collaboration with eBags, is a collection of eco-friendly diaper bags that are made in America with organic materials. One can be sure that Max will not lack in fashionable baby gear with mom Trista’s designs in the family.
