Order of the Phoenix: Chapter 7

Guest Author - Lisa Shea

Chapter 7 Order of the Phoenix: The Ministry of Magic. Harry wakes up bright and early for his judgement day. He is made breakfast by Mrs. Weasley and is very nervous, with Sirius and Lupin offering him advice. Mr. Weasley then takes him in the "normal" way, by taking subways.

They finally get to a shabby area with a red telephone box and squish themselves both into it. He dials 62442 and they are told to state their names. Badges pop out of the change drawer for them, and the box goes underground into the ministry. It is a polished wood and inlaid tile underground area, with the ceiling peacock-blue with golden symbols floating across it. In the center of a hall is a big fountain with a noble wizard woman and man, then three "adoring" creatures - a goblin, a centaur and a house elf.

The two get onto a lift and are joined by other workers, plus "paper airplanes" delivering messages. The get off on Level 2 and go past the Auror Headquarters. Kingsley Shacklebolt is in there and pretends to be hostile towards them; his office is papered with info on Sirius as a criminal. Finally they get to Mr. Weasley's office which is a tiny broom closet he shares with Perkins. They learn that a prankster is making a Muggle toilet regurgitate.

When Perkins shows up they're told they're late, that the time and room was changed for the hearing. The two sprint down to the lift and meet Bode in there, then leave him behind as they head towards the Department of Mysteries. It's just a long corridor with no doors but a black one at the end. They go down stairs to the left to a door, to Courtroom 10. Harry has to go in alone.
