It's hot outside and you're thirsty! What to do? Instead of just reaching for a canned soda or drinks made from a mix, try a thirst quenching, simple to make homemade fruit beverage made from natural ingredients.

Nothing could be more invigorating and refreshing than a homemade fruit drink in a frosty glass on a warm Summer day! Here's an assortment of recipes for chilled fruit drinks and teas to try this summer season!



Cranberry Cooler

  • 4 cups cranberry, cranberry-apple or cranberry-grape juice
  • 2 1/2 cups club soda
  • ice cubes

Preparation -
Mix together. Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour juice over ice and serve.

Orangeade
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Preparation -
Combine ingredients and stir. Pour over cracked ice in tall glasses. Garnish with fresh oranges slices.

Fruit Juice Slush
  • 1 - 6-oz. can any flavor frozen fruit juice concentrate - thawed
  • 1 - 6 oz. can of water
  • 1 1/2 cups(12 oz.) lemon-lime soda (such as 7-Up or Sprite) - chilled

Preparation -
In a glass or plastic pitcher, combine fruit juice concentrate and water; Pour juice mixture into a standard ice cube tray, filling each section to the top. Freeze until firm, about 2 hours. To make slush, unmold 1/2 tray of the frozen juice cubes. Place in a blender. container. Add 3/4 cup of lemon-lime soda and blend at medium speed until a slush consistency. Pour into glasses. Repeat with remaining juice cubes and soda. Serve immediately with spoons and straws.

Grape Cooler
  • 4 cups grape juice, bottled or canned
  • 1 cup pink grapefruit juice
  • 1 T. fresh lime juice
  • 1 - 20 to 24 0z. bottle club soda

Preparation -
Combine grape juice, grapefruit juice and lime juice in a large pitcher; refrigerate until chilled. Add club soda just before serving. Serve over ice.

Colada Cooler
  • 1 can frozen pina cola concentrate - partially thawed
  • 1 can frozen white grape juice concentrate - partially thawed
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 3 cans lemon-lime soda

Preparation -
In a large pitcher, mix both cans of concentrate with water and stir. Add lemon-lime soda. Stir; Serve chilled over ice. Garnish with fruit if desired.
