Yuri Gagarin First Man in Space
50 Years Ago Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin circumnavigated the globe. In the Summer of 1961 he was interviewed in London for BBC TV. This UK tour, at the height of the Cold War, was made possible by the Amalgamated Foundry Workers Union - who invited the great man to visit Manchester, England.
