I have been a walker for many years. Now that I am retired from professional work as a primary school teacher I have more time to devote to it. I walked the Camino Santiago in Spain last year from St. Jean Pied de Port in southern France to Finisterre on the Atlantic coast (900km) and have walked in France, Scotland, England and Wales, America and of course in Ireland my native country.
I have walked alone and in groups, stayed in hostels and hotels and walked in all sorts of weather from snow and ice to blazing sun. I hold a Three Peaks badge for climbing the three highest peaks in the British Isles - England ( Scafell), Scotland ( Ben Nevis ) and Wales (Snowdon). My next walking project is to walk part of the Pembrokeshire Coast in Wales and I am planning to walk the Stevenson Trail in eastern France next year.
I enjoy writing short stories, gardening and learning languages. I am currently struggling with Spanish! I love my monthly Book Club and my weekly Knitting Circle.
My four daughters and one son are grown up and independent now and I have fourteen grandchildren. I have been widowed for over twenty years.
