Kimberly Weiss has been a birder-on-a-budget for almost twenty years. She has seen over 100 birds in the urban wilds of Northern New Jersey, yet has never spent more than $50 on a pair of binoculars! Her goal is to show that birding is a hobby for everyone, not just the rich and trendy.
Kim has a BS in Biology and an MA in education, and has also studied ecology, special education, and technical writing at the graduate level. She has taught science to students in elementary school and college, and worked as a high school teacher for eight years. Besides birding, her hobbies include reading, playing with her dog and cats, and trying to write a novel.
