The Eastern meadowlark Sturnella neglecta and Western meadowlark Sturnella magna are pratcitcally the same bird, located in the eastern and western half of the US. Both birds have brown-and-white patterned backs, a yellow breast with a black collar, and a white streak on the head.

These birds enjoy open grassland, and hang out in small flocks, often perching up on a bush or fence to get a better view of the landscape. Their song is a warble / whistle combination.
