Adele is a Londoner who is now making waves stateside with her new self titled album (Adele 19). She wrote all but one of the songs that are a collection of melancholy ballads about love, loss and hurt. You might not think you have heard of the songstress but her music has been making the rounds in the background of many popular television series. Most recently I heard "Make You Feel My Love", a remake of a Bob Dylan classic, on the hit series "Brothers and Sisters".
Adele is a seasoned twenty years of age (19 when her album was released). She was born in Tottenham, London (May 5, 1988) to a family with no toes in the music business. Despite her age, she already has five years of singing experience under her belt including an education at a British performing arts school. She has a huge Myspace following that helped her get her record deal with XL Recordings. When she writes her music she draws from real experience; yes, it's possible for someone this young to have loved, lost and to have felt pain. And she probably will again.
Adele has been nominated for the Grammy Award four times, winning two. Adele 19 is showing to be a budding success worldwide (yes, I have a copy) and there are signs of a long and fulfilling music career for this plus size songstress.
