Children are gifts from God.
Are you looking at your children as the special gifts from God that they are? Or have the challenges of daily life made you forget just what a blessing they are.
Children are labor intensive and it's so easy to begin to look at them as a problem – a discipline problem, a childcare problem, a health-care problem. But the truth is that under all that hard work, children are one of the greatest blessings we have.
This truth was hammered home to me by two incidents:
My niece who is battling with infertility and
The death of a 4 year old during a routine dental procedure.
Both these incidents made me realize how blessed I am and how my life is greatly enriched by the unconditional love and adoration that I receive from my children.
Having children has forced me to slow down and smell the roses. I've learned to look the a rainbow and a caterpillar crawling on the sidewalk through new eyes.....the eyes of wonder.
As a type A personality I am always focused on what I need to do next and my greatest joy comes from crossing items off my to-do list. But my children have made me realize that family is the most important thing in life.
So I want to ask you: Have you hugged your children today?
Have you told them you love them? Never ever assume that they know. You have to tell your kids that you love them and you have to tell them frequently.
You just never know it might be the last opportunity you get.
