Organic White Wines

I read organic and I do not automatically think the product is going to be good. Sometimes it is and sometimes it is not. I am sure that you have had the same experience with produce you see in your name brand supermarket. It says "organic" and you go to it and wonder, "I know this is supposed to BE better. But is this really better? Is this going to really taste better." My produce results at the supermarket have been mixed. One thing I have noticed lately is that the prices of the organic produce are coming down. Maybe it will carry over to organic wine.

So how do you suppose my results have been with organic white wine? I admit that I have set the stage for you to think, I have had mixed results with wine too. Fact of the matter is, the results that I have had with organic white wine have been excellent!!

I have had two different varietals, two different regions of California and two different wineries and the results both times have been terrific for both!

You might remember my article when I reviewed the 2006 Bonterra Chardonnay. Here is the
article if you want to glance it over again. In the article, before I got to the Bonterra review, I mentioned Chance Creek; a 2005 Sauvignon Blanc from Redwood Valley. The Chance Creek bottle was a great bottle but I could only get it via the web and I really wanted to get some locally, so I could reduce my shipping costs and bring the price per bottle down out of the stratosphere.

Chance Creek 2005 $10.99

Crisp, fruity, fresh - a very delicious Sauvignon Blanc! This would be a perfect white for any seafood dishes especially shell fish or a white fish.

As you can read from my review of the Bonterra, it too was excellent and a real delight.

So are all organic white wines going to be good? Right now, I am two for two. When I review my next bottle of organic white, I will update this article with my latest results. Until then,

Let me know what is on your mind, and how you are doing, O.K.?
