High intensity interval training (HIIT), includes short bursts of super intense cardio exercise followed by even shorter recovery periods. According to research this type of interval training burns 9 times more fat than steady state cardio. There are many HIIT style cardio workouts available but the best ones for you are the ones you’ll enjoy and will be able to stick with long term. Metcon includes intervals that are similar to HIIT but that are mainly performed with resistance exercises (weights, bands, bodyweight exercises) vs. traditional cardio exercises. It’s like traditional circuit training except more intense and more effective for fatloss. Combine HIIT, metcon, and intense bodyweight exercises and you’ve got mixed interval training. Hybrid training as some call is all the best fat burning workouts rolled into one super intense workout that incinerates calories, fat, and turbo charges your fitness levels. This style of workout has been around for a long time and was used mainly by the military, martial artists, boxers, and law enforcement. It is now the preferred style of training at all the best fitness camps. Keep in mind that this style of workout is not ideal for beginners but is a natural progression if you are working up to more challenging cardio workouts.
