Spring Break in San Antonio

Ready for a break from school, work and winter? Then head to San Antonio for spring break. There is much to do for the whole family and spring break isn’t just for college students. Especially in San Antonio, you’ll find fun for every age. No matter the size of your travel budget, you probably won’t have enough time to do everything you want to do.

Fun for the Whole Family

San Antonio Zoo and the San Antonio Zoo Eagle are must-sees if you are visiting San Antonio with small children. One thing to consider is it’s best to go early or late to avoid the crowds. (See http://www.sazoo-aq.org/general/index.html)

At SeaWorld San Antonio, you can experience the world’s largest marine life park. Want to see shows and learn about Shamu and all his friends? This is the place. Just be prepared to get up close and get wet. If you go with little ones, take a break and let them splash in their own special play area in Shamu’s Happy Harbor. And be sure to ride the Great White roller-coaster if you can stand weightlessness. (http://www.seaworld.com/sanantonio/)

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is another park the kids will love. Read more about this one in my article Six Flags Over Texas For Families linked below.

Leisurely and Laid Back Things to Do

San Antonio Botanical Garden is a wonderful place to visit for those looking for a calmer experience. The Carriage House Bistro is a lovely spot to stop and have a bite to eat. (http://www.sabot.org/)

Historic Texas Tours is the place to go for a guided Mission Trail Tour which provides a half-day tour of five historic missions that allows you to sit back and leave the hassle and driving to your guide. (See http://historictexastours.com)

Market Square, El Mercado & Farmers Market Plaza in downtown San Antonio offer visitors a taste of Mexico with dozens of shops, cafes and local artisans. (See http://www.marketsquaresa.com/?res=1360&ver=true)

San Antonio IMAX Theatre Rivercenter is the home of the film “Alamo…The Price of Freedom” which is about the siege of the Alamo. If you want to learn more about San Antonio history, be sure to see this docu-drama. It isn’t fun to watch, but it is very interesting. (See http://www.imax-sa.com/alamo.html)

I said earlier that there would be more things to do and see than you had time for and the same is true for writing about those things. So, next time we’ll explore all the free things to do in San Antonio. Hint: One of those things is the Alamo.
