BellaOnline Birds Newsletter

Welcome and thank you for your interest in receiving the Birds newsletter from BellaOnline. This weekly newsletter covers topics pertinent to keeping and caring for companion birds. Within our newsletter you will find nuggets of valuable information on a variety of subject matters important to you and your bird.

Diet
Feeding our avian friends a nutritious diet while helping them maintain a healthy body weight is at the top of everyone's list. We talk about reasons why a well balanced diet goes beyond seeds or pellets and the benefits of supplementing with fresh fruits and vegetables. There are many interesting options to add nutrients to your bird's diet and many of them have the ability to save you money. Foraging toys are another way we can add excitement to our bird’s life and can double as a nutritious snack.

Behavior
Everyone wants their bird to be well behaved and friendly. Birds give us signals through body language and how they interact with items and people within their environment. Those signals become much easier to read when we know what we're looking for and how to interpret them. Many times our birds display behavior that seems aggressive or unfriendly, but they are actually trying to communicate with us.

General Health
Birds are good at covering up signs of illness. In the wild this would aid in their survival. We must develop skills as a bird detective to spot the initial signs of illness in our feathered friends that can manifest themselves as changes in behavior, appetite or droppings. It is important we know how to respond appropriately when we see signs of concern.

Regular grooming such as maintaining wings and nails aids in our bird's overall health. If grooming is neglected, it not only affects our bird’s quality of life but their ability to interact with us. Bath time can be a fun and entertaining activity and assists in maintaining your bird’s feather quality.

Species
There are so many different bird species. It is a wonderful world to explore. Each has unique characteristics. Knowing about a specific species before choosing to bring a new bird into your life or adding one to your established flock is valuable information.

This newsletter has the potential to be a useful tool in your bird how-to arsenal by supplying a steady stream of relevant information to assist you in becoming a well rounded and knowledgeable bird owner.
