Elaine Haydon Jewelry - Semi-precious Gemstone & Silver

I love semi-precious gemstone and sterling silver jewelry and have been collecting it now for years. My preference is for handcrafted designer pieces and my newest acquisition is an exquisite pair of iolite chandelier earrings by Elaine Haydon from her online store at Elaine Haydon Jewelry.

A really nice touch! This is my first iolite piece of jewelry and the soft violet blue color is stunning with a subtle sparkle that shows off their Pleochroism, particularly in the sunlight. (Pleochroism means that iolite has different colours in different directions in the crystal-(from Greek pleion, "more," and chros, "colour"), in optics, the selective absorption in crystals of light vibrating in different planes. Pleochroism is the general term for both dichroism, which is found in uniaxial crystals (crystals with a single optic axis), and trichroism, found in biaxial crystals (two optic axes). It can be observed only in colored, doubly refracting crystals. [Iolite description is courtesy of Multicolour.com] Iolite gets its name from the Greek word meaning violet and is sometimes mistaken for a light blue sapphire or tanzanite. However, the distinct cold grayish color of iolite differentiates it from tanzanite which exhibits a warmer blue with only a hint of violet. Iolite can be found in Sri Lanka, the U.S., Burma, India and Madagascar. Beautifully crafted using high quality sterling silver findings, these earrings have hardly left my ears since I received them last week, and everyone who sees them asks where I got them. With their impeccable chandelier design, gleaming silver, and remarkable color, these beauties are my new favorites among my collection.

Gold Aspen Leaf and Mandarin Garnet Earrings by Elaine Haydon - Photo Courtesy of Elaine Haydon Jewelry at www.elainehaydonjewelry.comElaine Haydon Jewelry offers a wonderful selection of unique handcrafted one-of-a-kind bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings, and watches, all fashioned from gemstones with fine sterling silver clasps and findings. When a piece is sold, the picture is removed from the shop and placed in the Gallery. Elaine will gladly try to reproduce a specific piece you find in the Gallery, unless it was a commissioned piece. However, all finished pieces will vary, as the individual stones used in the original piece are largely, one of a kind. Therefore, your "reproduction" of a previously sold piece will also be unique. The prices for special order pieces may vary, due to fluctuations in market price of various materials. Elaine reviews your submission, and emails you a quote within 5 business days. Upon order confirmation your piece will be delivered in 2-3 weeks. Custom pieces and commissions are also available. Prices will be quoted by request based on cost of materials and estimated time of craftsmanship. On just about every visit to Elaine Haydon Jewelry you will see something different. There is either something new in the inventory or that gorgeous piece you had your eye on is gone. My advice is if you see something you like or you cannot live without, order it before it's gone!

This attractive website is easy to navigate with nicely reproduced images and includes a handy reference for gemstone information. You can be assured of excellent quality and your satisfaction with your purchase from Elaine Haydon Jewelry is guaranteed. And if through normal wear and tear, or by accident, your piece becomes damaged, Elaine does offer a repair service for a fee. Currently accepted payment methods are PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit cards. Shipping is by USPS and includes tracking for only $8.00 and over $200 the shipping is free.
