Much of the problem with thick hair is its density. Too much hair causes it to appear too heavy and solid. In this style, texturizing is used to take out much of the bulk allowing air space withing the style. Texturizing is cutting shorter hairs throughout a style. These shorter hairs are in fine groups of varying lengths. Texturizing should not be obvious unless you are creating a very spikey style. In this style, special attention is paid to the bangs (or fringe), the sides and nape area to create soft fringe that lays close to the head.
The texturizing in the top and in the crown helps to create the fluffy fullness and height. The short pieces of hair withing the style help to keep the long pieces up.
Our model's hair color is warm brown with golden highlights. This is created by and over-all tint in a medium reddish brown tone. Fine golden highlights are created by a foiling technique and are scattered through-out the top. This also helps to take away the 'too thick' appearance. The highlights help to create dimension. The highlights are not added to the sides and the back. Since this hair is short, highllights are not effective in this area.
