The first is 
A Dangerous Love by J.M. Jeffries (Genesis Press). Detective Elena Jackson has a few small problems, like fellow officers who arenīt thrilled with her sexual harrassment suit against another officer, a couple punks who force her to mess up her nice designer duds and a nosy brother waiting at her desk when she gets back to the station. Reardon North has troubles of his own, like why is he so unhappy with his life, and how can he help his best friend stay out of jail for something he didnīt do? While the two are trying to accomplish opposite goals, they canīt help the attraction between them. And when they have to work together to catch a serial killer, things really heat up. My only gripe with this is how long it took the two of them to admit their feelings to the other. This oneīs earned three and a half of Cupidīs arrows.
Next up this week is 
The Third Heiress by Brenda Joyce (St. Martins). Imagine that your fiance dies in front of you, his last words spoken to another woman. That horrible scene is what launches Jill Gallagherīs story. Her fianceīs family is none too pleased when she arrives in London with his body, and their attitudes donīt improve until sheīs back home in New York. But by then sheīs determined to find out more about this other woman, Kate Gallagher, a woman who looks a lot like herself and who disappeared in 1908. And Alex Preston, her late fianceīs cousin is going to help her, whether she likes it or not. This intertwining tale of Kate and Jillīs lives and loves kept me turning pages until I reached the end, wondering whodunit to Kate and if someone would make sure that Jill met the same end. And Alex is a very sexy hero. Iīm giving this one four of Cupidīs arrows.
